Mercy Nnenda Chinwo is a Nigerian gospel singer, actress, comedian, and songwriter. At age 8, she began singing in her church’s children’s choir. In 2012, she won Nigerian Idol Season 2.

Born on September 5, 1990, Mercy Nnenda Chinwo is a native of Portharcourt, Rivers State. The first daughter of five siblings, she is the fourth born in her family. Her father died when she was very young. She is married to Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa who is from Delta State, Nigeria.

In 2015, Chinwo released her first single, “Testimony,” followed by “Igwe” in 2017.

Personal life
On August 13, 2022, she married Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa of Water Brooks Church Lekki in Port Harcourt.

Acting
She landed her first movie role a year after winning Nigerian Idol, playing Lucia in Yvonne Nelson’s House of Gold, alongside Yvonne Nelson, Majid Michel, Omawumi and others. At the 2013 Ghana Movie Awards, the film ‘House of Gold’ won Best Picture and Best Ghanaian Movie.

Achievements

• In 2012, Mercy Chinwo won Nigerian Idol.
• Mercy Chinwo won the CLIMAX Award for Best Gospel Artist in 2018.
• In 2019, at the maiden edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival, (AGAFEST 2019) Mercy Chinwo was named winner in the categories Africa Gospel.
• New Artiste of the Year, Africa Gospel Female Artiste of the Year, and Africa Gospel Song of the Year (Excess Love).
• In 2020, Mercy Chinwo emerged as the Gospel Artist of the year at the AFRIMMA Awards.
